The Husband's zucchini plants have just taken off this summer. He seriously has had zukes the size of wine bottles! Growing up, my dad grew zucchini as well and my mama always made zucchini bread. She made a delicious zucchini chocolate chip bread that was to die for.
I was wanting to make hers last week, but unfortunately she was out of town and unable to give me the exact recipe off the top of her head. So I looked around a little and found a recipe on Food Network from Paula Deen.
We say around the house that She bakes and He cooks. Her specialty is entertainment fare. From appetizers and dips to cupcakes, cheesecakes, specialty bars, cakes and cookies. She credits “mama” with her love of baking and throwing parties.
He likes to Cook with a capital “C”, with a focus on main courses – and likes to make as much from scratch as possible – especially when making breakfast for The Wife. He specializes in the savory arts; steaks, all day pasta sauces and slow cooked bistro type fare. His dad collected recipes from a life of traveling the world and did most of the cooking in his boyhood home.
And then there’s wine…Her absolute, one, top favorite wine is (as she put it) “Petite Syrah…or Cab, also Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc, and….” She paused to sip her glass of Shiraz. He prefers anything that’s currently uncorked, preferably from Virginia, and never puts anything in his food he wouldn’t drink himself.
They work together and throw one hell of a dinner party with fresh ingredients and plenty of wine. This blog will bring you all the recipes, tasting notes and adventures from this One Couple’s Kitchen.
